Laurie B. Teal, NPP

Hello! I'm Laurie B. Teal, and I'm thrilled to share my professional hero’s journey with you.

My path in the field of mental health and holistic wellness has been both diverse and deeply fulfilling. And it is through my professional experiences, education, and certifications that ignited my passion to empower individuals to take an active role in their own wellness journey.

Let me take you through the various chapters of my professional life.

I began my career as a Mental Health Worker at Four Winds in 1993, where I facilitated groups, managed crisis interventions, and maintained therapeutic relationships. This foundational experience set the stage for my future endeavors in mental health.

From 1997 to 2002, I served as a Charge Nurse at Four Winds Hospital, where I managed clinical psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, and patient safety. During this period, I also provided clinical support and psycho-social assessments as a Hospice Nurse at Washington County from 1999 to 2000.

In 2002, I transitioned to Bennington Area Home Health & Hospice as a Psychiatric Nurse, conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments. Shortly after, I took on the role of Senior Clinical Nurse at Four Winds Hospital, where I supervised a 93-bed acute inpatient mental health hospital, working collaboratively with various departments to maintain a safe environment.

From 2008 to 2015, I served as an Assistant Nurse Manager at Four Winds Hospital. In this role, I provided nursing care, supervised staff, facilitated development programs, and ensured compliance with JCAHO standards. My responsibilities also included senior clinical nurse duties, overseeing evening and weekend operations.

In 2015, I joined Glens Falls Hospital Behavioral Health, where I continue to work closely with patients in acute settings, providing comprehensive psychiatric care and support. I also had a brief stint at Samaritan Inpatient Psych during this time.

In 2001, I founded Heart-Centered Healing Arts, specializing in hypnotherapy and energy therapies. For nearly a decade, I helped individuals, couples, groups, and corporations navigate stress relief, PTSD, addictions, anxiety, chronic illness, grief, death transitions, and childbirth. It was a deeply rewarding experience to assist so many on their journey to wholeness.

Since 2017, I've been running my private practice, Laurie B. Teal Integrative Wellness NP in Psychiatry, PLLC, where I honor each individual's unique path to wellness. My integrative approach to mental health includes medication management, Functional Genomic testing and education, nutritional and gut health testing, Lyme Disease testing, adaptogen herbs, and homeopathy. I also offer individual and group therapy, retreats, hypnotherapy, breathwork, and shamanic energy work. It's a holistic blend designed to nurture the mind, body, and spirit.

My educational journey has been equally enriching. I've pursued continuous learning, from mentoring with homeopaths and completing a fellowship program with Dr. James Greenblatt to attending the IMMH Conference. I hold an NPP from Sage Graduate School and a Bachelor's from Chamberlain School of Nursing. My studies at Goddard College focused on Integrative Health Arts and Sciences.

I've also undergone extensive training in hypnotherapy, energy work, and holistic nursing. Certifications in clinical hypnotherapy, advanced clinical hypnotherapy, HypnoBirthing™, Reiki, and therapeutic touch have equipped me with a diverse skill set to support my clients' healing journeys.

Currently, I continue to expand my knowledge through mentoring with Tim Owens in the Scholten Method and ongoing education in integrative wellness, including Lyme, EBV, functional medicine, and EMDR.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey. I am passionate about guiding others on their path to wellness and look forward to continuing this meaningful work.

A beautiful day begins with a positive mindset. I am Laurie's office manager and husband.

For over three decades, I have dedicated my time and energy to bringing joy and hope to less fortunate children and those with terminal illnesses or disabilities. By dressing up as beloved superheroes, I have visited hospitals, shelters, homes, and special events all over the Northeast, spreading smiles and creating unforgettable moments for countless adults and kids.

My work with multiple charities has been a beacon of light, offering comfort, joy, and happiness to those who need it most.

Currently, I work in the mental health field, where I continue to make a positive impact by supporting and uplifting others. Through my selfless dedication and compassionate spirit, I strive to embody the true essence of a hero.

Recently, I have stepped more fully into that passion and have co-produced a fan-made film using Batman to tell my own hero's journey.  "Batman: Out of the Darkness" is a powerful story of resilience and hope. A poignant exploration of mental health, courage, and the human spirit. Click HERE to watch.
